What Professional Traders Expect From a Broker And Why

Brokers are judged by their professional performance rather than their marketing. Traders value speed, accuracy and platform reliability because these components directly relate to how well they will be able to execute trades. If there is even a small amount of delay in executing trades or if the price the trader is receiving does not reflect the true price, the trader will have trouble executing an effective trade and therefore lose confidence in that broker. This is why professional traders evaluate brokers based on operating quality rather than marketing.   Professional traders also expect brokers to provide consistent performance throughout all types of conditions and volatility. This level of consistency requires that brokers have developed a reliable infrastructure to support traders, with clearly-defined rules and procedures for how trades are executed and managed and a comprehensive risk management system in place.

Traders who have confidence in their broker’s ability to provide these components are able to hold the broker accountable for their trading results, without any interruptions caused by operational issues.

Long-term brokers know that for a trader to trust them, it will take time. They do not attempt to grow quickly; instead, they invest in a technology infrastructure, processes and procedures, and experienced team members that will enable them to continue to provide traders with a stable trading environment and reduce the likelihood of unexpected interruptions. If a broker does not have these elements in place, they will quickly lose the trust of their professional traders. Ultimately, the most important service a broker can provide is reliability.
